Youth & Children

Our education program serves the needs of all ages with programs and events that emphasize the importance of ongoing Christian formation.

Children

Crib Room and Nursery -  The well equiped crib room and nursery is open on Sunday from 7:45 am to 12:30 am for infants and toddlers through age three. Daniela Diko is the nursery attendant.

St. David's Church School - Meets Sundays following the 10:00am service.  Children aged three through eleven meet with a regular staff of teachers using the Lectionary based Episcopal curriculum Living the Good News with studies that challenge and stimulate.

A special program within our church school, for children aged three through seven, is Godly PlayIt is an imaginative, Montessori approach to spiritual development that nourishes and guides young children in a way that is playful and meaningful to them. Children join their parents for the Eucharist.

Summer Sunday School
Summer Sunday School is an activity and teaching program held on Sunday mornings for children through grade 2. Children go directly to their classes at 10am and then rejoin their parents in the pews at the Offertory of the Eucharist.

Rite 13
Middle School youth meet during the Sunday School hour in a 2 year program developed to build self-esteem, gain tools for decision making, and build faith and trust in the context of the Christian community and common prayer as these youth transition from child to adult.

This program includes a celebration of Manhood and Womanhood, called the Rite-13 Ceremony, loosely modeled on the Jewish bar mitzvah.

Journey to Adulthood (J2A)
Youth ages 13 through 16 meet during the Sunday School hour in a continuation of the Rite 13 program.

Their curriculum, which is divided into four semesters of study (Self, Society, Sexuality, and Spirituality), teaches life skills in preparation for adulthood and prepares these young people for confirmation. This two-year program culminates in a pilgrimage.

Each session begins at 5:30 pm for a simple dinner before we start the evening activities. Children then assemble in church for a short skit, video, and singing. Following assembly time, students rotate through different activity centers including recreation, spectacular science, scripture, and crafts. Each session ends at 8pm.
